Welcome Letter
We would love to have you join us and be involved in the amazing opportunities available through the Richmond chapter of CMDA. It is an active, vibrant and caring group of people that would love to get to know you.
As a healthcare student, you can join us for the weekly Bible study at noon on Fridays. This provides a great time to grow in your faith as VCU students and faculty spend time together in God's Word. Free food and sweet fellowship add to the blessing.
There are monthly fellowship events where students, residents and practicing doctors, dentists, and families spend time together. Some months are fun play times, some are professionally encouraging with relevant topics shared by well-known speakers, and some are service oriented. All are encouraging and inspirational!
We know it is difficult to keep life balanced with the demands of school. We desire to come alongside medical, dental, physical therapy, occupational therapy, pharmacy, and nursing students to encourage them spiritually, academically and emotionally during these stressful years. Being involved makes a huge difference as we make a difference in one another's lives. Those who are interested can be a part of the student leadership team to help direct the ministry. We have a great time together planning and praying at a retreat in the fall and spring.
The annual spring break mission trip to El Salvador is a wonderful opportunity to serve others and bond with the team of students, residents and practicing doctors that participate. Many students consider this to be the highlight of their healthcare training years.
Residents enjoy a monthly fellowship time hosted by a husband and wife who are both physicians. We gather for food, fellowship, sharing and prayer.
Doctors in the community gather monthly for the Four Fridays Fellowship events. Many also attend small group Bible studies. They love to interact with students and often mentor them. The Richmond CMDA council is made up of 15 dedicated physicians and dentists who meet monthly to pray and oversee the ministry.
Please join us in what God is doing through CMDA as He changes hearts through healthcare. Be as involved as your schedule allows. Know it is time well spent as an investment in your personal and spiritual life.
These are a few comments from recent graduating students that were shared with Ed and Debby Read (Co-Directors of CMDA's Campus and Community ministry in Richmond):
"Thank you so much for all your love, guidance and leadership to us over the past 4 years. You have been an amazing influence, blessing, and encouragement to me." (Dave)
"Words cannot express how God has used you both to impact my life." (Jon)
"You guys are my spiritual parents...responsible for so much of my personal, moral and spiritual growth. I can't thank you enough for all of your support, wisdom and love." (Lisa)
"I am grateful for your spiritual guidance and prayers the past 4 years." (David)
